ST. CLOUD, Minn. (NEWSnet/AP) — Donald Trump is taking his campaign to Minnesota. He is set to hold a rally Saturday night in St. Cloud, along with running mate JD Vance.

Early in the day, he had a planned appearance at a bitcoin conference in Nashville, Tennessee, earlier in the day.

In May, Trump headlined a GOP fundraiser in St. Paul, where he said he could win the state and made an appeal to the iron mining range in northeast Minnesota.

That’s also a group of potential voters that Trump’s campaign has seen Vance, an Ohio senator, as being helpful in trying to reach, with his roots in a Rust Belt city.

In 2016, Trump was 1.5 percentage points shy of defeating Democrat Hillary Clinton in Minnesota. In 2020, Joe Biden defeated Trump by more than 7 percentage points in the state’s voting.
