Man Arrested Following Standoff With Roscommon Co. Deputies
One man is behind bars following a standoff yesterday in Roscommon County.
According to the Sheriff's Dept. around 2pm, deputies were sent to an address on North Central Drive in Higgins Township, just outside the Village of Roscommon.
They were called out for a report of someone shooting multiple firearms behind a residence throughout the day.
Roscommon County Central Dispatch identified that the suspect discharging the firearm had several warrants for his arrest… including an outstanding warrant from Roscommon County.
Deputies contacted the suspect, a 32-year-old man, in the backyard of the residence…but they say He was uncooperative and would not listen to any commands.
Following a physical altercation with a deputy, he retreated into the residence and barricaded himself inside…still believed to be armed.
Additional officers responded and a perimeter was established around the residence.
After a seven-hour standoff, law enforcement forced entry into the home and took the suspect into custody.
That man is facing multiple charges - including possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, and assaulting police.
That man is being held at the Roscommon County Jail pending arraignment.
