WASHINGTON (NEWSnet/AP) — Aid has been delivered into Gaza from a  repaired U.S.-built pier, an official said.

Crews delivered about 1.1 million pounds of humanitarian aid Saturday via the pier, the official said.

The pier constructed by the U.S. military was operational for only about a week before it was blown apart by high wind May 25.

The damaged section was reconnected to the beach June 7, after undergoing an upgrade at an Israel port.
