FishPass, a project that is aiming to reconnect the Ottaway or Boardman river in Traverse City to Lake Michigan, but its not that simple when it comes to invasive species.
However FishPass will handle that by making dams smarter.

This project will be focused around the Union Street Dam in Traverse City but will span the entirety of the river in order to research the science and technologies needed in order to make this happen as part of a river wide restoration process.

and with recent money being granted for the fishpass project its slated to get started in June, marking the start of a long process to slowly but surely restore and protect the river habitats.

If you'd like to learn more about this project you can do so by going to the Great Lakes Fishery Commissions website, and checking out their page about FishPass under the science & research category.
