(NEWSnet/AP) – The March 12 primaries could mark a turning point in the 2024 presidential election.

The contests are in four states – Georgia, Hawaii, Mississippi, Washington – along with Northern Mariana Islands and the Democrats Abroad organization for voters living overseas.

But in the aftermath of campaign announcements that were made last week, Democrat President Joe Biden and Republican former president Donald Trump face no major remaining opposition in their respective parties. With the delegate counts so far, it's possible that at least one or both party nominations will be settled as the March 12 results become official.

Primary season began with Iowa’s Republican caucuses Jan. 15 and New Hampshire’s primaries Jan. 23; and will continue through the Guam and Virgin Islands' Democratic caucuses June 8.

NEWSnet will update this roundup as results are reported.
