CHARLESTON, S.C. (NEWSnet/AP) —Donald Trump won South Carolina’s Republican primary on Saturday, defeating Nikki Haley in her home state.

Trump has swept every contest that counted for Republican delegates, with wins in Iowa, Nevada, New Hampshire and U.S. Virgin Islands.

The former president’s latest victory likely will increase pressure on Haley, who was Trump’s former representative to the U.N. and South Carolina governor from 2011 to 2017, to leave the race.

In recent days, Haley said she intends to travel to Michigan for its primary on Feb. 27. That's the last major contest prior to Super Tuesday.
