NEW YORK (NEWSnet/AP) — Walt Disney Co.’s “Wish” was expected to rule the Thanksgiving weekend box office, but “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” feasted on ticket sales, according to studio estimates Sunday.

“The Hunger Games” film grossed $28.8 million and $42 million over the five-day holiday frame.

“Napoleon” edged “Wish” for second place, $20.4 million to $19.5 million. “Trolls Band Together” finished third, with $17.5 million.

Also entering wide-release over the holiday weekend was “Saltburn,” which grossed $3.1 million over five days for Amazon and MGM.
