While some Northern Michigan high school football teams are playing for a spot in their respective state championship game, a local volleyball power is looking to add another state title to its' rich historic program.

Leland High School will play in the Division 4 State Semifinals.  The Comets will take on Crystal Falls Forest Park on Friday at Kellogg Arena in Battle Creek.  The girls from Leelanau County are 40-16-2.  They just came off an impressive quarterfinals win over the defending state champions Mount Pleasant Sacred Heart in 3 sets.  Leland Head Coach Laurie Glass has been leading the program for about 3 decades.  Under her leadership, the Comets won 3 state titles, the last one was in 2015.  She says it's been sometime the team has reached the semis, and she believes this group has what it takes to bring home, the top prize.
