In local sports, the Detroit Red Wings are starting training camp in Traverse City.  Before the players hit ice, they took to the links in TC for a special outing.

They all participated in the 2023 Detroit Red Wings Training Camp Golf Classic at the Traverse City Country Club. Local residents had an opportunity to meet members of the Red Wings at the same time golf with them.  There was also a post VIP party, where participants got to buy sports memorabilia and vacation packages.  The proceeds from the classic are going towards involved citizens enterprises, a non profit organization that provides affordable skating programs in Northern Michigan.  The Red Wings say they always enjoy hosting the event, while meeting local fans.  They also say, it's a nice touch that the outing helps to promote the game here in the North.  The Wings say the event is also a great way to get loose before the season starts.
