First Female High School Football Head Coach
The Michigan High School football season begins next week.
It's a new beginning for many teams, especially Bear Lake. The Lakers will be a part of state history. Sam Mullet, who will lead them on the sidelines is the first female head coach in the state. Through out her life, sports played a big role. She's a big football fan. Mullet landed internships in the NFL, with the Baltimore Ravens and Buffalo Bills. Bear Lake football program only started back in 2017.
Mullet was interested in coaching, and she took on roles as an offensive and defensive coordinator. When the head coaching position opened, she jumped at it, looking to build a strong football program. The head coach says she's proud to become the first, which can open doors for more women to get into coaching. But she emphasizes future female coaches, should pay their dues before taking on a head coaching job.
