CDC Reports COVID-19 Hospitalizations Trending Up
(NEWSnet) – Hospital admissions relating to COVID-19 are trending up, according to the latest data from the Centers for Disease Control.
The number of hospitalizations recorded for the time frame of July 16-22 were 12.1% higher than the previous week. This statistic is based on new admissions for every 100,000 people and is reported geographically, as one of the remaining available real-time national data for COVID-19 because infection reports are no longer tracked by CDC.
While the number of 8,035 new admissions nationwide are nowhere near the levels seen in summer 2022 or January 2023, much less the peak seen in January 2022, they do indicate the first trend up in hospital cases in seven months.
The regions where recent COVID-19 hospital admissions are proportionately higher than in the rest of the country include pockets of Texas, Oklahoma, Arizona, Nebraska, Oregon and Georgia.
