North Carolina Tornado Damages Pfizer Factory
RALEIGH, N.C. (NEWSnet/AP) — Clean-up is underway in North Carolina after a tornado causes extensive damage to homes, buildings and a Pfizer pharmaceutical plant on Wednesday.
At least four people were injured due to the storms.
The National Weather Service said in a tweet that the damage was consistent with an EF3 tornado with wind speeds up to 150 mph.
Pfizer confirmed that the large manufacturing complex was damaged by a twister that touched down shortly after midday near Rocky Mount.
Parts of roofs were ripped open atop its massive buildings. Officials say 50,000 pallets of medicine were damaged.
