Long Beach police are investigating a shooting that happened early Saturday morning.

At 2:23 a.m., officers were dispatched to the intersection of Pine Avenue and 6th Street regarding a shooting.

Officers say the preliminary investigation indicates that the occupants of two vehicles were arguing with one another while in their respective vehicles at the intersection.

This escalated when an unknown suspect in one of the vehicles fired shots at the other vehicle.

Both vehicles fled the scene before officers arrived.

No injuries have been reported and the investigation is ongoing.
