Texas Judge Asks Lawyers to Keep Quiet on Abortion Pill Case
(NEWSnet) — A federal judge overseeing a case concerning access to medication abortion told lawyers not to publicize upcoming arguments in the lawsuit.
U.S. District Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk told attorneys that because the case prompted death threats and protests, "less advertisement of this hearing is better."
Kacsmaryk said because of limited security resources and staffing, he asks lawyers to avoid publicizing the date of the hearing.
He did not specify who made the threats.
Kacsmaryk ultimately issued the date after the Washington Post reported on his attempt to keep the hearing under wraps.
