The Grand Traverse County Emergency Management says they can't stress enough how important it is to have working smoke detectors.

Recently, another potentially deadly fire was averted in the county by a functioning smoke detector that caught the attention of those inside.

Remember to test smoke alarms monthly, change the battery every 6 months when you change your clocks, and replace the alarm every 10 years.
